He’s fun and fast to knit. Knit in one piece.

Not an overly unique design or pattern. Although I have made a couple of tweaks to how these little garter stitch bears are worked.
The major tweak is the ears. My little bears ears are knitted by increasing and decreasing at the top of the head to create little wings. These wings are not sewn up the side but on a diagonal to the top of the head.

I’ve also created a nose by sewing and gathering a circle of running stitches in the middle of the face.
Check out my YouTube video on how to construct this little bear. He’s the perfect size for little hands. Only 15 cm tall, he’s a fast little fellow.

Yarn: 8ply
Needles: 3.5mm
Teddy is made by:
• knitting one leg, breaking yarn,
• knitting leg two.
• Knitting across both legs
• Knitting body
• Casting on for arms
• Casting off arms
• Decease / increase for head
• Increase / decrease for ears
The process is worked backwards to create second half of body.
Teddy is sewn up along sides, across feet and stuffed, before closing crotch.
Neck is cinched with yarn.

Making up
Fold bear in half matching feet.
Using mattress stitch. Sew the sides of the bear, starting at the feet, working around the arms and to the base of the ear. Sew at an angle from the base of the ear to the top of the head. Secure yarn. Sew across bottom of leg and inside legs, leaving a space in the upper leg to stuff bear.
Stuff into arms first, then into head, body and legs before closing upper leg.

Sew around neck and pull to draw in to shape neck. Tack ears to face forward. Sew a circle of running stitch in the centre of face, draw in yarn and push stuffing into ‘nose’ before securing yarn.
These are so cute, Tracy!
Aww thank you Liz
They are very lovely little bears 😍
Thank you for sharing 😀
Just made 2 of these and going to make lots more – for a lady that puts a teddy/soft toy on babies graves at British bases in Cyprus on behalf of their parents who, because of military postings, are unable to visit (there are around 500 that are, due to deterioration from being outside, need regular replacements).
So easy and quick to knit, lovely tweak to make the ears.
The only criticism I have is that the video is too fast to see details on sewing the ears.
Thank you Kay. Lovely to hear such positive and constructive feedback. It all helps me get better at making my patterns and videos.
A lovely cause too. 💕
