Triple knit Ashford yarn in two high contrast colours

Needles

5.5mm 40 cm circular needles

Cast on 84 sts join in the round

Abbreviations

• K – knit
• P – Purl
• Sl – slip
• K2tog – knit 2 stitches together
• Rnd – round

Brim

Rnd 1-20 Work (K1,p1) rib.

Body

Rnd 1 dark (sl1, k2)

Rnd 2 dark knit

Rnd 3 light (k2, sl1)

Rnd 4 light knit

Rep rnd 1-4 until hat measures 18 -20cm from cast on

Crown

Rnd 1 dark (sl1, k2)

Rnd 2 dark (K1, k2tog, k9, k2tog) (72sts)

Rnd 3 light (k2, sl1)

Rnd 4 light (K1, k2tog, k7, k2tog) (60sts)

Rnd 5 dark (sl1, k2)

Rnd 6 dark (k1, k2tog, k5, k2tog) (48sts)

Rnd 7 light (k2, sl1)

Rnd 8 light (k1, k2tog, k3, k2tog) (36sts)

Rnd 9 dark (sl1, k2)

Rnd 10 dark (k1, k2tog,k1, k2tog) (24sts)

Rnd 11 dark (k2tog) (12sts)

Break yarn. Thread tail through live stitches, pull to tighten and fasten securely.

Sew in ends.

Block to bring out the pattern.
