FINGERLESS MITTENS In the round

Hand dyed Tekapo Yarn

Materials

Yarn: Merino Magic 50gms

Needles: 3.25mm double pointed needles. 4.00mm double pointed needles

Notions: Scissors, tapestry needle. Gauge 22st to 10cm Using stocking stitch

Abbreviations

Cuff

Using 3.25mm needles Cast on 40 sts, (needle one 15 sts, needle two 10 st, needle three 15 sts)

Work k1, p1 rib for 20 rounds

Change to 4.00 needles

Rnd 1 k18, kfb, k2, kfb, k18

Rnd 2, 3 & 4 knit

Rnd 5 k18, kfb, k4, kfb, k 18

Rep Rnd 2, 3 and 4

Rnd 9 k18, kfb, k6, kfb, k1 Rep Rnd 2, 3 and 4

Row 13 k18, kfb, k8, kfb, k18 Rep Rnd 2, 3 and 4

Rnd 17 k18, kfb, k10, kfb, k18 (50 sts)

Rnd 18 Knit

Placing Thumb stitches on waste yarn

Rnd 19 K19, place next 13 sts on waste yarn, cast on 3 sts, knit to end of round. (40 sts)

Knit 10 Rnds **

Rnd 30 – 37 (k1,p1) rib

Cast off in rib

Thumb

Place thumb stitches onto double pointed needles.

Pick up 3 stitches along side of mitten

Needle One 5 sts, Needle Two 5 sts, Needle Three 6 sts.

Knit 5 Rnds**

Work 4 rnds (k1,p1) rib

Cast off in rib

To calculate yarn for the second mitten, weigh the first mitten and remainder of yarn.

** add or subtract rounds, adjusting for fit.
