The last few weeks have been a challenge for me. I’ve at times been able to use the skills I’ve learned in DBT to keep within a window of tolerance. At other times not.
Peter and I have started the packing up of the shop. The Shipping Container is arriving today, which will store the stock.
I’ve disabled the online store as we get the move underway. The final day of trading, in the shop, will be December 15th. Allowing us two weeks to get the final move and clean up, prior to handing over the keys.
The YouTube channel has not had a new video for awhile. I’ve been working on two new classes for the next Rebecca Page Summit and another article for Yarn Magazine.
I’m rather proud of myself for mostly remaining in my window of tolerance and continuing to do the work, to maintain and improve my mental wellbeing. Taking time each day to celebrate how far I have come in my recovery. Giving myself a High Five each morning.
Compassion, often described as the ability to empathize and show kindness towards others, has a profound impact on me and others. In a world that can sometimes feel detached and isolated, cultivating compassion becomes more crucial than ever.
Enhancing Emotional Well-being:
When we cultivate compassion, we tap into our ability to understand and share the feelings of others. This empathetic connection allows us to build deeper and more meaningful relationships, promoting a sense of belonging and emotional well-being. Compassion helps alleviate feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and depression, creating a positive impact on our mental health.
Fostering Positive Relationships:
Compassion acts as a powerful catalyst for fostering positive relationships with others. When we approach interactions with empathy and kindness, we create an environment of trust and understanding. This, in turn, strengthens bonds, enhances communication, and encourages cooperation, leading to healthier and more harmonious relationships in all aspects of life.
Promoting Personal Growth:
Cultivating compassion not only benefits our relationships with others but also contributes to our personal growth. By practicing empathy and understanding, we gain a deeper insight into the experiences and perspectives of those around us. This broadens our horizons, challenges our biases, and helps us become more open-minded and inclusive individuals.
Making a Difference in Society:
Compassion has a ripple effect that extends far beyond our immediate circles. Each act of kindness and understanding creates a positive impact that spreads throughout society. By treating others with compassion, we inspire them to do the same, creating a chain reaction of positivity. Whether it’s volunteering, supporting charitable causes, or simply lending a listening ear, our compassionate actions can contribute to creating a more compassionate and empathetic world.
Cultivating Self-Compassion:
In addition to showing compassion to others, it is vital to extend the same kindness and understanding towards ourselves. Self-compassion involves treating ourselves with gentleness, accepting our imperfections, and embracing self-care. When we cultivate self-compassion, we develop resilience, boost our self-esteem, and enhance our overall well-being.
Cultivating compassion is not only a gift we give to others but also a gift we give ourselves. By embracing empathy, kindness, and understanding, we foster positive relationships, promote personal growth, make a difference in society, and enhance our emotional well-being.
Small acts of compassion can create a significant impact. Together, we can create a more compassionate and caring world.
This month is Mental Health awareness month. A great opportunity to learn how we can all make our communities more compassionate places.
