Cuff Down Fleegle Heel – free pattern

My last blog post was about the magic that is the fleegle heel. And I uploaded a PDF with a basic 8ply toe up sock pattern.

This time I am using the cuff down Fleegle heel. I’m using Sharon’s instructions for the heel but if you prefer a modified version that reverses the gusset and heel. Check out this Blog post from the knitters Brewing Co.

More researching around the web has brought me to discover this heel is also known as The Strong Heel. The Strong Heel is named after the lady who designed the heel Gerdine Crawford-Strong. The heel technique was first published in Knitter’s Magazine, Fall 2003, Issue 72.
