Sweet Heart Buntings

To complete the Sweet Heart Bunting you will need:

Sweet Hearts Bunting

Yarn: 8ply yarn in two or more colours

Hook: 3.5mm and 5.5mm

Tension: The hearts need to be firm.

Stitches

BegCl – ch2, *yo , insert hook into MR, yo, pull through st, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook; repeat from *, yo, pull through all 4 lps on hook, ch 1

3TrCl – Yo, insert hook in st, yo, pull through st, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook *yo , insert hook in same st, yo, pull through st, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook; repeat from *, yo, pull through all 4 lps on hook, ch 1 to close.

Standing 2TrCl – make a slst on hook, yo, insert hook in st, yo, pull through st, yo pull through 2 lps on hook, yo, insert hook in same st, yo pull through 2 lps on hook, yo, pull through all 3 lps on hook, ch 1 to close

2TrCl – Yo, insert hook in st, yo, pull through st, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook, yo , insert hook in same st, yo, pull through st, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook; yo, pull through all 3 lps on hook, ch 1 to close.

Pattern

Magic Ring to start.

R1– With Yarn A BegCl, (2ch, 3TrCl) x7, 2ch, slst to BegCl. Break yarn and finish (8, 3TrCl, 8 2ch sp) Break Yarn.

R2 – With Yarn B, start in any 2ch sp work with a standing 2TrCl work as follows into each 2 ch sp around *2TrCl, 2ch 2TrCl, 1ch, in 2ch sp repeat from* around slst to standing 2TrCl. break Yarn

R3 – With Yarn A, starting with standing tr in any 2 ch sp, *3 Tr,1ch in 2 ch sp, 2tr, 1ch in 1ch sp; repeat from * around. Slst to standing Tr. Break yarn

R4 – With Yarn B, slst in between any 2tr group. 3 tr into 1ch sp, 5 dtr into next 2, 1ch sp, 3 tr into next 1ch sp. 3 dc into next 3, 1ch sp. 3 tr into next 1ch sp, 2ch, 3tr into next 1ch sp, 3 dc into next 3, 1ch sp. 3tr into next 1ch sp, 5 dtr into next 2, 1ch sp. 3tr into last 1ch sp. slst into starting space. Break yarn.Block and stiffen hearts.

Finishing

Soak Hearts in a 50/50 mix of PVA glue and water. Lay on plastic and pull into shape. Leave to dry.

Joining

Using Yarns A and B together and 5.5mm hook. Work a chain 50cm long, *work a treble into the slst of a heart, ch 30 st. Repeat from * until all hearts are joined. Work chain a further 50cms. Break yarn and finish.
