8 Ply Toe Up Socks – free pattern

Basic toe up socks – 8 ply

I’ve been sock knitting of late. I get a lot of pleasure from knitting these fast and portable projects. Especially in 8ply as they work up fast.

This pattern is not for a beginner. As the techniques used are advanced.

  • Magic loop
  • Judy’s magic cast on or figure 8 cast on
  • Stretchy bind off. I use the Icelandic Bind off as I find it doesn’t flare out.

8 ply socks are bulky. I like to wear them with boots or heavy shoes. They are also suitable as bed socks.

I knitted two pairs from a ball of Patons Sierra. One for me and one for Peter. Sierra has 20% wool for breath ability and comforting 80% acrylic for wear. I find them comfortable to wear.

Free Pattern

I will not be offering any support for this free pattern. If you find the pattern challenging, a google and YouTube search will easily find tutorials on the techniques used.

  1. Hello
I will have to try this pattern when the weather cools down a bit. Really don’t enjoy knitting whilst it’s warm.
    Stay safe
