Self care is not only bubble baths, facials, massages and manicures. Yes these are all valid but the most important self care you can do is be your best friend.
The NUMBER ONE self care practice is to think and speak lovingly about and to yourself. Celebrate your wins, pat yourself on the back and give yourself a hug. Yes, all doable.
There’s enough people to tell you your faults out there, so you don’t need to be one of them. AND importantly avoid these people. You do not need them in your life. If you hang around someone who regularly makes negative comments about others. It’s a sure bet they are saying similar about you.
Honestly their company is so not worth it. Once you get these people out of your life you make room for new more positive friendships to form. You will find your tribe. I can testify to it. The last year has been an amazing year of friendships for me. The gorgeous Kate and amazing Rosie are both a blessing in my life. They’re both women I want to be more like. Strong, caring, loving, positive, self assured. And they never ever put others down. They’re too busy living their life.
Being an Adult is about owning what you do. The good and the bad. Self care is about being the adult who will eat nourishing foods, exercise and be disciplined. Disciplined in how we think, behave and act each and everyday.
Being an adult is about doing the hard things of self care. Eating your veggies, saying no to the salt and vinegar chips. Exercising each day. Thinking before you speak. Being kind and compassionate to yourself and others. Taking care of your finances. Owning your mistakes and taking steps to rectify them. Saying sorry when you hurt others. Taking responsibility for your actions.
I’m not writing anything you do not know already. I’m no guru. I’m reminding myself and you of what we already know. My blogging entries are more for me than you. A reminder to myself I already know how to live my best life. We all do. What we need is a reminder to do it. Sometimes grandma may have forgotten how to suck eggs 😉
The last of the learn to knit socks classes is tonight. The wonderful testers have done such a fabulous job. I can’t wait to catch up with them tonight and finish the toes and Kitchener stitch them. Peter has claimed my sample pair already.
After I’ve implemented the feedback and tidied up the class I will open it for enrolments. And start testing the next class, knitting hats in the round. Will need testers. If you would like to be a tester email me. Tracy@knitspinweave.com.au Will require you to attend two online sessions on a Wednesday evening via zoom.
